In the first half of 2022, Australians bought 12,630 electric cars, bringing the total on the road to over 50,000. Most of these cars do the majority of their charging at home, which creates demand for electricians to install EV chargers in domestic settings all over the country. There are over 9 million homes in the country so there's a lot of work to do.

Most of these cars also use high power fast chargers in public from time to time, which creates work for the commercial and industrial electrical contractors focussed on the higher-power end of the market. Whenever the drivers travel away from home, they’ll be looking to charge their cars overnight - so there’s work to do at motels, hotels, and caravan parks all over the country as well.
