Often a forgotten element of the Middy's Scholarship Program and Small Business Awards is the ability to win one, or both, multiple times...

As they say 'you've gotta be in it to win it' and Middy's Leeton NSW customer, Mark Baker from Darling Irrigation is testament to that.

In 2014 Mark won a Middy's Silver Scholarship Award walking away with $5,000 to put towards training. Then, in 2022 Mark went one better and won a $10,000 Middy's Gold Scholarship Award.

So if you’re thinking of applying for the Middy’s Scholarship Program later this year, or the Middy's Small Business Awards in April, why not try for both? And why not take a leaf out of Mark's book and back it up by applying again down the track as well? Who knows, you might succeed, and Mark is a great example of what it takes to keep applying and striving to win.

With his award in 2014 Mark undertook multiple training courses including Asbestos Training (NECA), Working at Heights (NECA) as well as Small Business courses and Solar and Stand Alone Power Systems courses. Mark says the training greatly improved his skill sets and helped him grow his business by opening up new income streams.
 
In his career transition to commercial irrigation, Mark wants to re-skill and with his 2022 win, he’s blocked in training for Instrumentation Control to learn all about how to save more water and create efficient irrigation systems. In addition, Mark is looking at quoting and project management training. Both wins have proved extremely valuable in helping Mark progress at different stages during his career.
